We are delighted to announce that Frazer-Nash has been recognised by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) as an assured cyber security consultancy for Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Discovery & Migration Planning, and Advice, confirming our industry-leading position in the field.
PQC aims to protect against the threat posed by quantum computers. While existing cryptographic techniques are considered secure against existing computing, they are vulnerable to the unique properties of quantum computers, putting at risk sensitive data such as government secrets, medical records, and financial information.
The threat of a working quantum computer being able to undermine today’s cryptography is being taken seriously by the cyber security world and UK Government. As part of this, the NCSC is piloting an assured PQC consultancy scheme, recognising UK companies which have demonstrated the necessary knowledge and experience to advise organisations in how to prepare for PQC migration. Frazer-Nash has been named as one of the first eight companies to be accepted onto this scheme.
Organisations should begin planning now to migrate their existing algorithms to new quantum safe algorithms, yet this will be complex. Discovering cryptographic assets, developing migration plans and understanding how to incorporate the new algorithms into existing systems is a serious undertaking, requiring buy-in at all levels.
PQC migration is something every organisation will have to get to grips within the coming years, with government policy and guidance beginning to emerge. Frazer-Nash is now ideally positioned to start advising our clients in government and the transport, energy and health sectors on how best to approach this major cyber security challenge.
